Learn exciting tricks! First two juggling workshops, organized by volunteers from Voluntary Center Skopje and Youth Forum
EYE, took place at Saturday, 20th and 27th of October. More than ten volunteers from six countries came together to introduce Roma children to the art of juggling. In informal way kids could learn some basics of juggling and test their nimbleness and speed of reaction.


    Make your own juggling stuff! Kids could learn not only to do some tricks with balls, pojas and devil sticks, but also see how to make simple juggling balls from rice and balloons and get first their own juggling stuff.

Keep practice! Juggling can be funny way how to improve your mood in boring and sad day and even more – with time you can learn a lot of exciting and even breathtaking tricks to entertain and surprise your mates.

    Get involved! “This is very good opportunity for the children who live in the Šutka. I liked it very much, it was nice to talk and juggle with them. The children by themselves motivate me to participate in workshops, and Šutka is very interesting place for me,” after workshops told Reele, volunteer from Estonia. “Juggling in Šutka was for me very important, for the fact that it brings something to those kids there, who don’t have access to a lot of structures. Also for me it was a great success to see interest in the eyes of the kids. To see how patient and curious they were,” explained French volunteer Julliette, one of the main trainers and initiators of juggling workshops.


    “The idea of this event came after the juggling festival at Struga in July. Seen the success of it, we had to do it again. At the beginning we wanted to make something structured, with a good planning but it couldn’t work so some day we just decided to go there with materials and to improvise. This was the “test phase” to see what was working or not. I really hope that for the next Saturday the weather will be with us, so that we can do it again, and this time with a final performance.”
Come together and have fun! But, of course, juggling is not so much about developing your agility and speed… It is a great way how to come together, spend some time with friends and get to know better each other and life in Šutka. And that’s why volunteers are looking forward to continue juggling in Šutka in spite of coming winter.
